November Visit

An image relating toNovember Visit

November’s visit by the UK team to Nepal was accompanied by a number of Himalayan Learning donors. In the attached photo you can see retired British fireman John Farmer and one of Himalayan Learning’s children.

This visit we were concentrating on trying to build upon last year’s work by surveying the renovation of Shanti School, which was so generously supported in 2007 and 2008 by you. We also wanted to trial taking a number of donors with us to see whether it would be successful for future visits.

The children are all doing very well. The students taking SLCs this year are all starting to work even harder in the countdown to their exams.

We were also checking our new office and quality-checking the new items that we invested in last year – new coats, sweaters and books for our children. In the above photo you can see an enlargement of the Himalayan Learning badge.

The political situation locally is still quite difficult and really affects our programmes. Visiting schools and children was delayed because of these problems. We managed to get updates for at least half the children which we will be inputing to the computer soon. For the other half, we are going to return in January. At that time, we also hope to be finishing the upgrade to Shanti School.
